A significant severe weather threat is moving into northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan Tuesday evening, with the potential for damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes overnight into Wednesday morning.

The WTOL 11 Weather Team has declared a Weather Impact Alert Day, warning that storms arriving after sunset could pack wind gusts over 60 mph. Forecasters say the threat may increase near or after sunset, making it critical for residents to have multiple ways to receive weather alerts and warnings overnight.

Multiple rounds of storms could also bring heavy rainfall, with one to two inches possible in a short period. Localized flooding could develop as the storms move through the Toledo area and surrounding communities.

The weather team planned a live update Tuesday at 7 p.m. to walk viewers through storm timing, the areas at highest severe risk, and what to expect for Wednesday morning and afternoon.

The storms are expected to clear the region by midday Wednesday, though the morning commute could be affected by debris and standing water.
