President Donald Trump will return to Ohio next week for a campaign rally at Youngstown’s Covelli Centre on Monday, Oct. 12, his campaign announced, marking his second Buckeye State stop in less than two weeks.
Doors open at 4:30 p.m. with Trump expected to speak at 6 p.m., according to the Akron Beacon Journal. The Youngstown rally comes just nine days after his Oct. 3 appearance in the Dayton suburb of Vandalia, where he urged supporters to turn out for the midterm elections.
Ohio’s marquee races remain tight. Republican Sen. Jon Husted, whom Gov. Mike DeWine appointed to replace now-Vice President JD Vance, faces a tough challenge from former Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown for the remainder of Vance’s term. In the governor’s race, Republican entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy faces former Ohio Department of Health director Dr. Amy Acton, a Youngstown native and Youngstown State University graduate.
Trump has carried Ohio three times, including an 11-point win in 2024, and the Mahoning Valley has been central to Republicans’ recent gains in the state. Ohio Democrats have not won a gubernatorial race since 2006, but polling suggests this year’s contests could be competitive.
Republicans are working to boost turnout as national headwinds, including an unpopular war with Iran and high prices, have signaled a potentially strong Democratic midterm cycle.
