Butler County voters who want to cast a ballot ahead of the November 3 general election can vote early in person this week at the Butler County Board of Elections, 1802 Princeton Road, Suite 600, in Hamilton. The board’s posted hours for Monday, October 19 through Friday, October 23 are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day, giving registered voters a full workday window to vote before the final rush of the election season.
Early in-person voting has been underway in Ohio since October 6, and the Butler County schedule follows the statewide calendar set by the Ohio Secretary of State. Saturday voting opens this week as well: the board will also be open Saturday, October 24, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Statewide, early voting is already well past the 300,000-ballot mark. As of October 14, the Secretary of State’s election dashboard reported 882,171 early ballots issued across Ohio, with 309,600 returned — including 235,117 voters who had already cast ballots in person at county boards like Butler County’s.
Voters should bring a valid, unexpired photo ID showing their name and photograph — an Ohio driver license or state ID, a U.S. passport, or a military ID. Voters who would rather vote by mail can request an absentee ballot application from the board, by phone at (513) 887-3700 or in person; applications must be received by 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27.
Voted absentee ballots can be returned by mail, delivered in person to the board office, or placed in the board’s 24-hour secured drop box — though under Ohio law only the voter may use the drop box to return their own ballot. Mailed ballots must be postmarked by November 2, and all absentee ballots must be received by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day to count.
Hours expand sharply in the final week. From Monday, October 26, early voting runs 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. most days, until 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, then again Saturday, October 31, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Sunday, November 1, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., the last day of early voting.
Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, when Butler County polling places will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Voters can check their registration, view a sample ballot and confirm their Election Day polling place through the Butler County Board of Elections or the Ohio Secretary of State before heading out.
